Privacy Policy.
This explains what Wakapace collects and why. We aim to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Profile: display name and, if you upload one, a profile photo.
- Activity: step counts in short batches (time window, number of steps, source) and daily totals. We do not collect GPS location or raw motion-sensor data; step detection happens on your phone.
- Wallet: practice-naira balances and a ledger of every movement.
- Usage analytics: pages visited, approximate location (country, region and city derived by our hosting provider), device type, browser and operating system, and a random browser identifier. We do not store IP addresses.
Health Connect (Android app)
If you connect Health Connect in the Wakapace Android app, we read only your step count (read access to the Steps data type). We never write to Health Connect and never read any other health data. Step totals are stored with your account to count challenge days and are shown to your cohort as described below. You can revoke access at any time in Health Connect settings; steps already synced stay on your account.
How we use it
- To run challenges: count your days, settle cohorts and show standings to your cohort.
- To keep the service fair and secure, including reviewing implausible step data.
- To understand and improve the product through aggregated analytics.
Who sees it
People in your cohort see your display name, photo, commitment amount and today's steps. Wakapace administrators can see account and activity data to operate the service. We use Vercel (hosting and file storage) and Neon (database) as processors. We don't sell your data.
Your choices
You can change your name, photo and password in your profile. To access, correct or delete your data, contact us through the app. Wallet ledger records may be retained where needed to keep accounts accurate.
